They:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>help you relax and decrease anxiety<\/li>\n<li>decrease the stress response associated with pain<\/li>\n<li>help you get better sleep<\/li>\n<li>may indirectly help decrease pain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here are several from the <em>How to Cope with Pain <\/em>website:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.howtocopewithpain.org\/resources\/breathing-exercises-2.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"color: #0060ff;\">breathing exercises<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.howtocopewithpain.org\/resources\/relaxation-exercises.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span style=\"color: #0060ff;\">relaxation exercises<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Guided imagery <\/em>and <em>hypnosis<\/em>, which use\u00a0suggestions of decreasing pain\u00a0paired with imagery, help in the same ways that relaxation exercises do.
