Want to be more comfortable in bed? Move and turn over during the night as smoothly as if you were sleeping on a cloud?
I was asked to review a new product by Elite Sheets. Founded by Peggy Mills, herself a person with chronic pain, Elite Sheets offers bed sheets which help make nighttime movement much easier. These sheets are designed in 1/3′s – the top and bottom thirds are made of a comfortable material. The “secret” is the middle 1/3 of each sheet, which is a satiny material that you can “glide” on. I thought they were an excellent product!
Their website mentions that these sheets can help with problems such as chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and arthritis. Easier movement at night can let those of us with these pain problems sleep better and wake more rested, possibly with less pain. Although I don’t have pain at night, I found the sheets great anyway. I don’t have problems turning, but I found turning easier and smoother. I did order one for my family member who just had orthopedic surgery and for whom turning is difficult.
Peggy’s ingenious design also solved 2 problems with regular satin sheets. First, if your whole sheet is satin, getting a grip to move can be tricky. Elite Sheets have a normal top and bottom section, so your hands and feet can grip the sheet. Second, satin sheets can feel cool. On a hot evening in summer, that can be nice. However, for the rest of the year, they can feel too cool. These sheets eliminate that problem by having normal fabric around your face, hands and feet. The satin is used only in the middle of the sheet, so the rest of you is snuggly.
The only negatives about the sheets were 1) they’re a little pricey, and 2) they’re made of polyester, and some people prefer natural fabrics.
Elite Sheets is offering a $10 discount to How to Cope with Pain readers through October 12/15 (updated as of 11/4). Click on the link in this paragraph to get the discount. If you try this creative product, let me know how you like them.
(Disclosure: Elite Sheet provided a complimentary sheet for my review.) If your company would like me to consider a review of your product, contact me here.

The idea sounds nice, but I wonder about the seams joining the different fabrics: RSD/CRPS and allodynia patients would find these lines painful. I have found that very smooth – long staple – Egyptian cotton sheets to be the easiest. Satin sheets are painful because of the short staple fibres and the satin weave: smooth at first but after a number of washings they become rough to the sensitive touch. Polyester would overcome this, but then polyester does not breathe the way cotton does.

Many people with RSD/CRPS would find these sheets too cold on our skin. I can’t even use “regular” sheets because they are too cold.
Cold hurts; the best sheets I have found are made of t-shirt material that keeps you warm, not cold.

Thanks for presenting this sheet option. It’s a great idea! I’ve also found that sateen sheets are also great in hotter months & they stay nice & smooth after washing & drying which can sometimes make satin stuff rougher. Thanks for the idea!! Sandy

Love our elite sheet! I toss and turn all night and it wakes the wife. She has noticed that my moving around is no longer moving the entire bed. Peggy is very knowledgeable. I am excited for my mom to give it a try.
