Crossing The Finish: My RSDSA Charity Bike Ride

October 27th, 2008 · 2 Comments

This past Saturday was rainy, so we postponed the ride until Sunday.  We started out with sun just peeking through a misty morning, and by the end, glorious sun shone down on us.  Thanks to a final generous donation of $1000 by Pentec Health, we surpassed our goal and raised $2828.90.  Yeah!!  Thanks so much to all who donated, and everyone who supported us with cheering, good wishes and support.

Our motto was “Bikers enduring a little pain, so others can be pain-free.”  I usually don’t ride quite this far, and for the last 4 or so miles, my legs didn’t have much power.  But I thought of people with pain who don’t have a choice whether to continue or not…  and turned up my music and finished!  This experience is dedicated to all who suffer from CRPS/RSD and other chronic pain disorders.

You can still donate to celebrate our ride here.  This was our trial-run-to-see-how-it-goes year, and I think we’ll do an expanded charity walk and ride next September for Pain Awareness Month.  Stay tuned!

Thanks!!!

Congratulations. What a great idea. Might I suggest next time that drug companies might be happy to sponser you or donate. Here there’s a window of opportunity before the end of our financial year or just at the beginning of the next. Also there are companies such as Woolworths who donate a nominal amount to charities who request a donation. Many don’t know that you can request. I suggest the beginning of the financial year for them.
    Way to go htcwp.
