The most important meanings of the upcoming holidays include time with family and friends, spirituality, and taking time to relax and reflect. But presents are fun, too, right? So I’d like to give out a few gifts to you, my readers, with Contest #2 today, (here are Contest #1 and Contest #3).

Today’s contest is for new subscribers (it’s free!) to How to Cope with Pain. Just sign up to receive How to Cope with Pain by either email or RSS by December 31, and you can enter today’s contest. The winner will get to choose second from these prizes (the winner of the writing contest gets first choice):
- Life Disrupted: Getting Real About Chronic Illness in Your Twenties and Thirties, a book by Laurie Edwards
- The Computer Athlete’s Handbook, a book by Brian Bentow
- A “Book Buddy” pillow for reading and using your laptop in comfort
- A set of 6 squishy, funny “pain faces” dolls which show 6 pain levels
- The Wisdom to Know the Difference, a book by Eileen Flanagan
To be entered in the drawing, you need to do 2 simple things:
1. Sign up to get How to Cope with Pain by either email or RSS feed.
- Sign up for either email delivery here or RSS delivery here. (See below if you’re not sure what email or RSS delivery means.)
2. Then, enter the contest here. (Submit your name and email address so I can contact you about choosing a prize if your name is drawn as the winner. These won’t be used for any other purpose but this contest.)
What is email or RSS delivery? With email delivery, each new article I write gets sent directly to your email. An RSS feedis your own personal site (eg Google) where the blogs you sign up for send their articles to you. Either way, what you want to read comes directly to you – free. You never have to go around to the sites you like to look at – everything is sent to you. How easy!
Thanks for subscribing to either email or RSS delivery. Remember, the deadline is 12/31. Good luck in the contest!
Contest #1: Write an article for How to Cope with Pain
Contest #3: Donate to any pain charity
If you or your company would like to provide a prize for a future contest, contact me here.

I am so glad that this is here! I cannot decide whether coping or acceptance is the most vital part of thriving rather than just surviving with chronic pain. .. The chicken or the egg?
