We traveled for Christmas, and a family member who’ll remain nameless forgot to bring my suitcase down to the car to pack it. No luggage = no medication. I still take 2 medications at low doses for my pain disorder, so this was a problem.
Here’s a secret to know…
You can ask a pharmacy for a 1 or 2 day “emergency supply” of medication when this happens. Or, if you run out of a medication and have no refills left on the prescription, this will work too, until you can have your doctor call in another prescription. If you use a national pharmacy with a database, it’s fairly easy to get a few doses to cover you, even if you’re out of town. Pharmacies sometimes even provide a dose or 2 for free. (Unfortunately, they’re unable to do this for narcotics.)
So a quick trip to CVS and my problem was solved. And I still get to tease my husband about his “senior moment.”

Here’s another secret. Remind the family member about the suitcase and there won’t be any forgotten medicine.

Good heavens! I would never trust my meds to the check-in luggage — I carry them in my carry-on with my computer and energy bars (emergency rations for when I can’t find gluten-free foods).

No check-in… just in our car
You’re right, always keep your medication with you if you’re flying.
