Deep Relief Pain Lotions: A Review

October 7th, 2009 · 4 Comments

I received some samples of pain-relieving lotions recently from Deep Relief Pain Lotions and wanted to share a good resource with you.  Deep Relief Pain Solutions offers 2 different kind of gels, one which feels warm and one which feels cool.

I had a few patients sample the lotions and both got good reviews.  The company website suggests the warm lotions be used for chronic pain conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia.  I had a patient with CRPS (RSD) use it as well, and she said the warmth felt great.  It doesn’t contain capsacin (the chili pepper warming agent in some lotions), so it’s a gentle warmth rather than a burning.

The cool gel can be used for acute pain such as strains and sprains.  I also had a patient with arthritis use it, and she felt it helped as well.

Positives:  The gels are non-sticky, and use aloe vera, which is a good, natural base.  Negatives:  The lotions do have strong menthol smells, but this goes away after they are absorbed.  While they use mostly natural ingredients, I believe they also contain some petroleum-based product.

Overall, a good resource for pain-relieving lotions.  If you try them, you can let others know what you think in the comments.

I recommend “Magic Juice” by Lori Berryhill.

The website does not list all the ingredients which I find, frankly, shocking. I would not order a product without knowing this information. It mentions a few, as you have. But there’s no section with a list! This stuff might contain allergens, it might contain rainforest depleting and orangutan threatening palm oil. Or other harmful items.

    Hi Janet,
I think that’s a good recommendation for this company (and all companies). It’s really helpful for people considering products. Thanks for the suggestion and I’ll pass it on to them.

A pain relief gel like the one you described can be very helpful in dealing with muscle tightness, muscle spasms and painful trigger points. I use a great product called Biofreeze which has a natural pain relieving substance called ilex in it. I also recommend that you do a little muscle massage when applying these pain relievers. They can help to decrease pain and range of motion at the same time.
