Labor Day Pain-Blog Carnival… Work and Pain

September 3rd, 2007 · 4 Comments

Welcome to our Labor Day Pain-Blog Carnival, where you can read posts by 5 of my fellow pain bloggers on Work and Pain.

Labor Day – September 3 this year - is an American holiday begun in 1882 to honor workers.  So that’s the connection… Labor Day… work… work and pain.  I’ve invited these great bloggers to write about what this topic means to them – working, not working, or another interpretation of this issue.

Fighting Fatigue writes on the topic ”How Are We To Cope With Pain,” and looks at the ego-blow that stopping work caused.  However, she sees some blessings too.

The Sassy Lime writes about the problems she had trying to work, why she decided to stop, and what would need to change for her to return to work in “Chronic Pain In (And Out) Of The Workplace.”

Matthias Weinberger at The Neurotopian writes about  the positive effects that the right kind of work can have by structuring your day, giving you a sense of identity, and distracting your thoughts away from the pain in “Work Can Be Your Friend.”

Spine Health’s post, Is Your Job Aging You?  Computer Users Beware, covers great practical advice on how to reverse the damage done to your body by sitting at the computer all day.  Take a look at specific ways to avoid a hunched posture and premature damage to your spine.

Keep Working, Girlfriend writes in ”Working With Pain” that “it’s better than not working  with pain.  Working is always better for you - you have to be able to manage the pain and your work.”

I hope you enjoy the posts!  Let me know what the topic Work and Pain means to you in the comments.

Thanks to Clay Bennett for sharing his Labor Day cartoon.

If you have a blog and would like to contribute an article related to pain for my next carnival , here’s how you do it.
